Event Description
Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of Effluent Discharge into Lake Tanganyika
Green Sustainable Environmental Consulting (GSECO) is organizing a technical and stakeholder engagement event focused on the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of effluent discharge into Lake Tanganyika, one of Africa’s most ecologically significant freshwater ecosystems.
The event aims to present and discuss the scope, methodology, and preliminary findings of the EIA study, with particular emphasis on assessing the potential environmental, social, and ecological impacts of treated effluent discharge into the lake. Topics will include water quality protection, aquatic biodiversity, public health considerations, regulatory compliance, and sustainable wastewater management practices.
Participants will gain insights into baseline environmental conditions, effluent characteristics, impact prediction, mitigation measures, and monitoring programs designed to safeguard Lake Tanganyika’s water quality and ecological integrity. The event will also provide a platform for dialogue between project proponents, regulatory authorities, local communities, technical experts, and other key stakeholders.
Through transparent consultation and scientific assessment, this event supports informed decision-making and promotes environmentally responsible effluent management aligned with national regulations and international best practices.
